The purpose of BTEC Higher Nationals in Business is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the business sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them. The BTEC Higher National qualifications in Business are aimed at students wanting to continue their education through applied learning. Higher Nationals provide a wide-ranging study of the business sector and are designed for students who wish to pursue or advance their career in business. In addition to the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the study of the business sector, Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Business give students experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that will prepare them for further study or training.

Assessment is through the submission of assignments, project or examination at the end of each Unit. Assessment is subject to internal and external verification of the units submitted. All units must be passed to achieve the full qualification.
This is a full time programme and students are required to attend 15 – 21 hours of supervised study per week.

Entry Requirements for HND Courses
- Must be 18 years and above
- One GCE A level pass in a relevant subject and 3 passes at GCSE level
- A Level 3 qualification
- 3 GCSE passes with a minimum 3 years’ work experience in a business or hospitality field
- English Language – at B2 or IELTS level 5.5
Mature applicants – a minimum of 3 years work experience at supervisory level and meet the English language requirement.
English Language Requirement:
Applicants who wish to apply for the course must provide evidence of a proficiency in English Language to a minimum of level CEFR B2 /IELTS 5.5 through a certificate from an ofqual approved awarding body. College may also ask students to sit for college numeracy and/or literacy exams. Evidence of proficiency in English is not required if the applicant has studied the last two years (example GCE or GCSE) or equivalent qualification in the English medium.
Our students who successfully complete the HND course can also progress on to BA (Hons) top up in Business Administration in a number of UK universities. Others have gone on to careers in sectors such as sales, IT, recruitment, Hospitality, Teaching and financial services.
